"Dear all,

Let me thank all the members and their guests who came to our 2012 annual dinner yesterday, even though it was cold and rainy all day here in the Bay Area. For those who were not available to make it, you missed the chance to see your old friends and more. Here is a summary and our thanks to the generous help we received :

- Each director presented their work report for the past year.
- After singing our school song, buffet dinner began.
- We played a quiz during intermission. It really made us all scratch our heads. Questions are pictures of current events and QES related. Helios, the quiz designer, kept it so secret that not even his wife, Alice, had a clue. It finally came to 2 highest score tables and a tiebreaker question was needed. You can see the picture of the joyful winners on our website later.
- Special thanks to Doris Tse for your one of a kind funny presentation, Doris, Inc. It brought us a lot of laughs.
- Many thanks to Donald Lam for being the photographer of the night. He already sent out all the pictures and video he took. He must be staying up late last night.
- Thanks to all directors and volunteers for setting up and cleaning before and after the dinner.
- Also thanks to all the gift donors, and congratualtions to all the winners, especially the 2 very lucky ones who won the association's grand prizes gift cards.

You may visit our website for the pictures of the dinner. Please allow about 2 weeks for us to collect them from all sources and post them.

Usually we report the accounting results of the dinner and other events in the following year's annual dinner. Since some of you have doubt about why we charged the amount we charged for the dinner, I hereby report that there were 31 attendees. We have a surplus of $29.81, which is receipt $702 minus dinner costs $577 and gifts $95.19.

Finally, please allow me to tell you that our association will face a critical situation. In our association's constitution, we need a minimum of SIX directors to form a Board. 3 current directors decided not to seek re-election after this year, 5 others have not confirmed if they will stay. As I told our members during the annual dinner yesterday, the asociation needs you now. Please take some time to think about if you can arrange your time to become a director of the board and which position would fit your interest. You can let me or any directors know about your intention or decisions anytime. Remember, the association would not be able to function normally and as a collective party without a board. Your contributions to the association will be much appreciated by all.

Stay well and hope to hear from you.

Crystal
President"

- Northern California Lunch with Joyce Yau

"Joyce's farewell lunch at Pilita, San Carlos.

We had an enjoyable Turkish/Mediterranean lunch with Joyce and caught up some old good stories in HK and about travelling. By quoting Nelson's wish to her: "Bon Voyage" and "Viya con Dios".

"Dear Crystal, Louisa, Alex, YK and Agnes, Phil and Mrs. Tai, Don,

What a pleasant surprise to see all of you yesterday!

Thank you so much for the delicious dinner! Greetings to you on behalf of QESAAUSA Southerners!...... I contacted Crystal and Louisa on Sunday and was overwhelmed with the joy of having dinner with all of you on Monday evening. ...... A big "Thank you" to Crystal and Louisa for organizing the dinner and to all of you for the quick responses - all happening with incredible efficiency - I should compare it to the speed of light!...... I really enjoyed the nice chat with all of you.

Crystal, thank you very much for being our outstanding President and for giving me the QESOSA Annual Report to share with Southerners! I hope you and other BoDs will visit Southern California soon!

Warmest regards to all of you,

- 7/24/2010 Summer Picnic
"Dear members & guests,

I wish to thank everyone who supported this year's Mid Summer Gathering. We would not have this enjoyable afternoon together without the following parties:

- All great chefs, like Kathy, Agnes, Katherine and our directors, particularly Louisa who came up with the theme of dishes and prepared more than half of the food yesterday. Can you imagine how her kitchen was like in the midst of preparation and cooking ?

- Roy, Ed and others who help getting the delicious items to complete our menu.

- All the volunteers who help setting up and cleaning before and after.

- Doris for your souvenirs.

- All the photographers, Donald, Nelson, Margaret, Helios and special thanks to Thomas Lee, who kindly brought over his equipment and took portraits of our members. We will let you know the delivery or collection of your photos after they are processed.

Well, Donald at his super speed already uploaded a video with a soothing background music on youtube.

There will be more videos and photos for viewing in our website later. Stay tuned.

The left over original CDs/DVDs/VHS tapes and books will be donated to our local library.

Meanwhile, stay well. See you in our coming events."

"Dear friends,

First, thank Vivie, Nelson, Veronica and Wing-Chee for your kind words. Louisa Leung, our Social Activities Director, is one key factor for the success of this event because she spent long hours organizing it.

We had a great afternoon yesterday and thank you all, your family and friends for coming to the Summer gathering. I think we broke our record of attendance for a summer event, more than 70 people came..."

- 5/3/2008 Southern California AGM & Mexico Trip

On May 3, 2008 QESAAUSA of Southern California hosted a Reunion dinner at the Marie Callenders Restaurant in City of Industry. Before the reunion dinner, our Northern California members, led by Paul Pang visited the Huntington Library in San Marino. They viewed the extensive art collections, rare books and manuscripts. They visited a dozen of different gardens including the newly opened Liu Fang Yuan (Garden of Flowing Fragrance) with interesting architecture, lakes edged with Taihu rocks, bridges, plants and pavilions...
