It is usually more receptive. - Question if there are too much activities? - Transportation needs coordination (location not convenient) - Need to arouse more interest among members. - Dinner at cost - Additional approximately $300 spent mostly on gifts. FINANCIAL - Philip accidentally deposited extra into checking account. Reimbursed. - Reimbursed Helios $192 for last year's Annual Report advertisement. - Checking account has $0.21 interest for the past 3 months. - CD has approximately $48 interest year-to-date. - More detailed update next meeting. SUMMER PICNIC - 7/24 (Alternate 8/7) [Confirmed 7/24] - Location: Club House in Foster City. - Cost: $50 for rental - Alternate locations considered: - Montalvo - Too expensive - Lake Elizabeth picnic area - Currently under construction - Teen center (Foster City) - Too expensive ($72 per hour + insurance) - Lake Chabot - no shade (was concern for some members) - Proposed activities (TBD) - Freestyle dance - Tai-chi - First aid lessons - Club dancing - Singing - Stuff exchange - Food - Considered catering, $22.50 per person (too expensive) - Decided to cook ourselves - Detailed menu from Louisa. - Eggs from Philip/egg tart by Louisa - $15 fees. - Alex/Louisa to send out email 6/15 VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES - Member suggested to volunteer as a group - Need suggestions - Please forward suggestions to Louisa DR HINTON'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION - Photos of members with signatures created by Louisa to be presented at birthday dinner. - Donation list to be posted on website - Crystal to coordinate with Peter Poon after event to obtain photo/video etc to be posted on website. BIMONTHLY DINNER - Skip 'D' and 'E' -- can't find good restaurant. - Next one is "French" - Saturday night (to allow people with busy weekdays to attend) - Tentatively 8/21. YAHOO GROUP USAGE - Recent security issue is end-user issue. - Need to research using @qesaausa.com to provide mailing list functionality - Yahoo group mailing list is not really necessary anymore if @qesaausa.com can be used. DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION - qesaausa.com - $41.94 fees per year - will continue to use as main domain name. - qesalumni.com - registered a long time ago - not actively used/promoted - decided to give up - Mandick to send email to Tong Sau Chai (QESOSA) to see if they are interested in taking over. MEMBERSHIP - Ho Hiu Hung - No record of membership, checked with former membership directors, etc. - Sent invitation, but no response - Leave as is for now - Distributing updated info? - Decided to distribute during annual dinner only. - Update during registration. - For picnic, collect info during registration only. - Just update, no distributed copies. SCHOOL MAGAZINE ADVERTISEMENT - Have not advertised in school magazine before (only in annual report) - Decided not to advertise in school magazine. - Decided to continue with annual report only. CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT - Currently have 42 votes [Recounted vote, and there were 10 duplicates, so 32 valid votes only] - All of them are for the amendment. - There were some concerns from members, suggesting more extensive changes to constitution regarding membership. - Decided to push existing amendment instead (since the current votes will still be valid). - Send forms to Louisa to solicit votes at Dr Hinton's birthday celebration - Ask Peter/Keith to solicit votes from SoCal. - Helios will send Google forms link to Mandick to try out. If voting is simple, hopefully more members will vote. EAST COAST ACTIVITIES/INACTIVE MEMBERS - Decide to send greeting cards to inactive members to remind them of QESAAUSA - No planned east coast activities at this time.
