A Tribute To Our Founding President Nelson Tsang

A Tribute To Our Founding President Nelson Tsang

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.

First of all, I like to thank the Tsang family for giving me this opportunity. My name is

Doris Tse, and it is my honor to represent the Queen Elizabeth School Alumni

Association of the USA in paying tribute to our beloved Founding President and dear

friend, Nelson Tsang.

There is a saying, “The very first step is always the hardest.”

Just imagine how difficult it is to build something from nothing—to create a vision, bring

people together, and turn an idea into reality. But Nelson did it.

In 1999, following a reunion with a visiting former school principal in the Bay Area,

Nelson and several fellow alumni shared a vision in creating a community where Queen

Elizabeth School alumni could stay connected. They started from scratch. They

developed the organization's vision and mission, drafted its constitution and bylaws,

established communication channels, organized activities, and took care of countless

behind-the-scenes details. Through their dedication and perseverance, they eventually

brought together more than a hundred alumni from across the nation and established

the QESAAUSA, the Queen Elizabeth School Alumni Association of the USA.

Nelson's dedication, talent, and leadership laid a strong foundation for all who followed.

And that foundation has endured. Twenty-seven years later, our Association is still

standing strong, with more than 150 members. Throughout those years, Nelson

remained one of our strongest pillars, always ready to guide, support, and encourage

us.

This morning, fourteen of us attended the service to represent our alumni community.

Interestingly, there was a 30 years age span between the oldest and the youngest!

What does that tell us about Nelson? First, he had a special gift for reaching across

generations and bringing people together. Second, he was deeply loved and respected

by alumni of all ages. And Nelson had another special talent that brightened our

gatherings—his beautiful singing voice! We always began our meetings by singing

our school song, and Nelson was always the one who led us, making sure we stayed in

tune! His voice brought us together in song, just as his leadership brought us together in

friendship. Now that he had fought a good fight, had finished the race, and had kept the

faith, I can picture him leading us singing “Hallelujah!” in New Jerusalem, with that

wonderful voice.

Nelson, we remember you not only for what you accomplished, but also for who you

were. Thank you for bringing us together, for showing us what dedication and service

look like, and for leaving us a legacy to carry forward. You were more than a Founding

President. You were a guiding mentor, a devoted leader, and a dear friend. Rest in

peace, dear Nelson. We love you.

Your legacy will live on in the Association you helped build, in the friendships you

nurtured, and in the hearts of all those whose lives you touched. You will remain in our

hearts—forever.
