A Great Day for QES Alumni Chow
Tung-Shan (1962) on November 19, 2004
Today is a great day for QES old students. In a solemn graduation ceremony
held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.at its campus in Taipo, the HK Institute of
Education conferred honourary doctorates to Mr. Arthur Hinton, Professor
Sir William Taylor,CBE, and Dr. Rosanna Wong Yick Ming, DBE, JP. The
centre of focus was on Dr. Arthur Hinton. The citation was
a long one but moving.
The Institute hosted a dinner in the evening. One of the four tables
was reserved for the QES. Mr. Kwok Wai Man and Mr. Kong Sui Yin, and
Mrs. Pang, the current principal, were among those present. The Chairman
of the Governing Council of the Institute pointed out that each of the
3 honorary doctors set a role model for all its graduates. The QES Choir
was there to sing the school song, joined by the other QES old students.
Dr. Arthur Hinton's eyes were wet.
Dr. Hinton has written a 458-page book, Only A Teacher. The book sells
at $200. But he has donated all the proceeds to the QESOSA to support
its educational endeavour. People joining the Golden Jubilee Dinner will
be able to have a copy.
