Susanna Tsoi (黎悅心 '59) was awarded the HK Standard/Sing Tao Newspaper's Annual "Leader of the Year" for 2002 in the Education category. She was recognized for her pioneering work in promoting parent education. Some 20 years ago, she started organizing Parent Education Seminars. As recipient for this year's 'Leader of the Year' Award, she was filled with emotion. "It is of course my honour to receive this award. On the other hand, I also feel uneasy, as there are other successful people in the society, who are more qualified to receive the award." Smiling on stage, Mrs. Tsoi thanked her children, "I am grateful to my children - their naughtiness triggered my motivation. I also like to thank my family for their support, because I am really just an OK mom, not outstanding." Mrs. Tsoi believes that a good leader should not just lead, but sometimes also need to be a good follower. "A good leader should be ready to come out and support new and revolutionary ideas emerging from the society, so that others know what to follow." "Leader of the Year Award" is an annual event established since 1994 by Sing Tao Daily and The Standard of the Sing Tao Group to recognize and encourage the achievements of Hong Kong's finest individuals that have made outstanding contributions towards Hong Kong's success and prosperity, linking Hong Kong to the Greater China and the World.
